The Problem with JUST Letting Go- Part 2

Are we shedding or alchemising?

Let's explore the difference between the two...

Shedding:

"The process of losing a covering naturally or of dropping something in a natural way or by accident"

This process is probably one you are used to experiencing in meditation, fire ceremony or sound healing sessions. We identify old energies that we are ready to shed and we set our intention to let go (maybe now we do so with a moment of gratitude). Perhaps you have even become more embodied in this process and are able to somatically sense that energy moving through and beyond your present being (if not then you might want to book my bespoke e-motion energy healing session). But how often does that full moon roll around and we find ourselves deep diving into the psyche to search for something that we want to release but find that time and time again we return to the very same thing?

I shared in classes last week, the oxymoron of the commonly used phrase "try to relax" and "try to let go". This juxtaposition is confusing because "try to" suggests force and action whereas relax and let go are a form of surrendering that involves no force and no action. As the definition of shedding suggests, letting go is the process of naturally losing a covering, in which we drop the ways we previously covered or concealed our true selves. This process occurs effortlessly and without force…and that requires nothing more than intention, observation, compassion…and a little divine timing! However, please don’t mistake “effortless” for “mindless”, for the effortless shedding can still be a felt experience. Not one we are doing but rather one that we are feeling.

I had a long term client recently share some of her personal breakthroughs since working together and one of them was "I understand that there are questions that I can’t answer until the answer finds me". In a world that teaches immediate gratification, impatience and haste, the peace and acceptance in this breakthrough was so powerful and a beautiful reminder that letting go is a natural process that occurs effortlessly when the time is right.

On the journey of Soul Embodiment, we learn how to connect, listen to and trust in divine timing in order to find contentment and joy in each step of life.

Alchemising:

To transform the nature or properties of something by a seemingly magical process.

I was reflecting recently on a workshop I attended a while ago and was struck by how many people would introduce themselves by timidly sharing their past experiences with the phrase "but I've moved on/ moved past that". They spoke of some of their greatest challenges as disconnected memories of the past, somehow holding them as separate from the current version of themselves, as if they now held their present version as 'better than' their past version.

Although it’s amazing to hold ourselves with such pride for the strength we have shown in overcoming such challenges, I am always surprised by the dismissing of our past pain and challenges. Because after all these years healing, learning, training and mentoring, one thing that always stands out is how our past pain can be our greatest gift...if we find the courage to both feel and explore it. How many of us have the courage to explore these aspects of our soul curriculum? And how many of us want to simply “work through to get past” instead? When we see life as happening to us, we probably fall into the latter, but when we are able to view life as happening for us we will start to fall into the former. This former can be the key to feeling embodied and empowered in this life.

The law of conservation of energy states that "energy can neither be created nor destroyed, it can only be converted from one form of energy to another" and for me this was what held the magic of alchemising the past. Because these seemingly catastrophic moments may just hold the magic of your future. This is huge aspect of the work I do, helping you release the energetic burden that stories of the past may hold as we alchemise the wisdom gained in their lessons. Learning how life is happening for you.

Do you feel like a passenger in your own life as “life happens to you” or are you empowered in the understanding that “life is always happening for you”? Want to chat more about this?  Drop me a message or book a call.

So is there anything wrong with either of these? Is one better than the other?

Absolutely not!

Both processes hold power in their unique ways. We just need to learn how and when to access the power of each technique. As always, the key is in awareness because there is so much more beauty and potential for embodiment when ‘letting go’ than we are lead to believe. If you find you just can’t shed it effortlessly, maybe it’s something to explore alchemising instead?
